Our Circular Quay Restaurant
Serving Guests for over 30 years.

The City Extra concept was developed in 1984 around what we believed the Public wanted, not what we wanted to serve them. People asked to be able to eat at any time from the full menu, so we went to 24 hour trading and made every menu item available at any time of the day or night. This suited the far more complex life style of Sydneysiders – shift workers, hospital employees, night club staff, students, opera goers, office workers and so on.  With our iconic newsprint menu's, tables and staff uniforms our Circular Quay restaurant is not to be missed.

Most Enjoyable Experience

We stopped at City Extra for morning tea after arriving at Circular Quay off the River Cat. Coffee was lovely, staff were friendly and found us a table downstairs in the air conditioned section which was most comfortable on a very hot day! Food was nice and the menu had good variety and something to suit all budgets! I loved the theme throughout with menus in newspaper format and staff wearing shirts with newspaper print on them!! I would be happy to recommend this restaurant to others!! Most enjoyable experience!

I have no idea about any of other meal city extra offers.... But the big breakfast and the Canadian breakfast was one amazing breakfast me and my partner had ..... The pan cakes with maple syrup was sooo good.... The location is amazing too... We will go there again... Coffee was a bit cold as I should have ask for extra hot keeping the cold weather in mind... A must try specially the breakfast...

Favourite place to eat in the city

Fast friendly reliable service , food is consistently good value for money , and if I'm not happy with anything no matter how busy they are it's never to much trouble to replace it . I love ❤️ the amazing multicultural staff . Always from all over the world . Brazil, France , Nepal . Just incredible.

So Good

We've been here twice now, once for dinner and once for breakfast. Both were really good but breakfast definitely topped it for me. Reasonably priced, great value for money, friendly staff, definitely worth a visit 🙂

I always love the food here, there's quite a lot of choice on the menu so you would always find something suitable for your diet. They do amazing pancakes, Burgers and Fish and Chips! Yum
